Response’s Christmas Present to Keech Cottage Children’s Hospice

This Christmas Response Personnel Ltd has decided instead of giving gratuities to our valued clients we would make a donation to our special charity.  This year we have chosen The Keech Cottage Children’s Hospice based in Luton.  On Tuesday 16th December Jennie King and Aimee Hoade visited Paul Sutherland the hospice Corporate Fundraiser in order to see the wonderful work carried out and to donate the Christmas gifts.

The hospice service supports families across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes who are caring for a child or young person diagnosed with a life limiting condition.  Their invaluable care is available to all free of charge.

The Luton Hospice has amazing facilities including a multi-sensory room, music therapy and a large hydrotherapy pool.  The pool is an intrinsic part of the care in Keech Cottage but the equipment needed is very expensive.  Response has donated a stretcher cover for the pool hoist which enables the staff (many of whom are volunteers) to lower severely disabled children into the pool.

The children at the hospice have a wide variety of conditions; some may only live a few months whilst others will live for a number of years.  The aim of the hospice is to help the families make the most of the precious time they have left with their child.  The whole environment provides fun, play, treatment and love.  By donating arts and crafts equipment Response hope to go a little way to help Keech Cottage do this.

The hospice relies heavily on fundraising and donations; it takes approximately £2.5 million to run, only 25% of which comes from the NHS leaving 75% to be raised independently.  Just one of the ways the hospice raises funds is to offer modern, spacious conference facilities perfect for training sessions and meetings.

The hospice in Luton boasts a choice of conference suites fully equipped to hold up to 100 delegates.  Every need is accommodated for including flipcharts, overhead projectors, television and video and an in-house catering team.

By taking advantage of the exceptional facilities; companies have a unique opportunity to make a contribution towards the charity’s invaluable work.

If you would like to find out more about these facilities or the hospice itself, please telephone: 01582 492339 or see the website: www.pasque.org.
