Our client is a design and manufacture a range of sheet fed and reel to reel printing and converting machines for use in a variety of production and R&D environments.

The majority of components for all our machines are manufactured in-house in a small but busy machine shop.

We have a vacancy for a skilled and experienced manual lathe operator with a minimum of 5 years experience in an engineering machine shop environment.

Applicants should be preferably time-served and possess a relevant qualification.

There are opportunities for CNC work and suitably qualified candidates will be considered.

The role involves working to 1st and 3rd angle projection drawings and CAD models to produce high tolerance precision components manufactured from a variety of alloys, hard plastics and stainless steel.

Key skills include:

  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • To specify tooling required for the individual task
  • Experience with manual centre lathes and familiarity with 3 jaw and four chucks, tail stocks and steadies with digital read-out.
  • Able to use calibrated hand measuring equipment such as vernier, micrometers, and thread & plug gauges.
  • Competent in the use of the typical range of other machine shop equipment such as linishers, band-saws, pillar drills and grinders.
  • CNC Turning experience would also be useful.

Working hours for a 39 hour week are Mon-Thurs 0800-1700, Fridays 0800-1300 .

Some overtime is available paid at time and a half.
