Hours: Monday to Friday 08.30 – 17.00

Hybrid working from Dunstable site.

Our client is a multinational company with a UK division and factories across Europe. We are recruiting for a National Account Manager.

Purpose of role: To create and implement plans to grow the UK retail business, meeting revenue and profit targets.

Responsibilities: National Account Manager

  • Develop and implement account sales plans appropriate for UK sales channels (grocery, convenience, wholesale and online) to achieve sales KPIs.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with relevant customer contacts to develop effective relationships and identify opportunities to grow UK business. Manage all negotiations including cost price increases, NPD launches, distribution and contract terms.
  • Proactively maintain and develop a network of key contacts at Buyer and Category Manager level leveraging those partnerships to deliver growth.
  • Build a thorough understanding of our customer’s trading strategies, including the key levers to achieve our business objectives and make recommendations to amend UK plan as appropriate
  • Broaden the UK business by investigating and developing new opportunities within UK retail market.
  • Be a category partner to our largest customers, providing category insight, market data and knowledge as required.
  • Support customer initiatives especially end to end cost reduction projects, range reviews, and NPD to build relationships and secure long-term trading partnerships.
  • Review performance monthly, ensuring volume, sales value and customer profitability objectives are being delivered, recommending action as appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with peers from other parts of Group to ensure the growth and success of the business, including contributing ideas and sharing knowledge and experiences
  • Be an ambassador for the business with both our customers and in the wider UK Grocery market.

Experience/Qualifications: National Account Manager

  • Experience of managing large grocery accounts (top 6) with a proven ability to develop existing and potential customers.
  • Positive can-do attitude.
  • Excellent communicator and team player with influencing skills and established contacts within UK food retailing.
  • Track record of achieving targets.
  • Good business acumen and strong financial understanding.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and keep calm under pressure.
  • Educated to degree level or commensurate experience.
  • A good standard of PC literacy
