Trainee Production Cutting Operative

Based in Hitchin

40 Hours per week – Monday to Thursday 8am – 4.45pm, Friday 8am – 3.30pm

Salary £21,673

An excellent opportunity to train to work in a Factory environment cutting fabrics, linings, belts and protective material for the manufacturing of Personal Protection clothing for the Medical industry to ISO regulations

This position involves:

· trace and cut from patterns onto fabric or Lead vinyl

· understand basic patterns, including domestic and commercial sewing

· use hand-held scissors to cut patterns, or portable electric cutter

· be able to understand written measurements

· operate light machinery within a manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

· To read instructions from a Job sheet

· To support both fabric cutting and core material cutting to ensure daily production schedule is met.

· To support in applying markings to cut work

· To examine, weigh & record batch numbers from Protective material for conformance to specifications

· Keep Production area tidy and free from hazards

· Examine job sheets to verify conformance to specifications

· Disassemble manufactured products by hand when required

· Load, unload, or stack containers, materials, or products

· Stock take products or materials

Skills

· Ability to work on several orders simultaneously

· Possess an excellent understanding of the process & be results orientated

• Demonstrate good work ethics & communication skills
• Must demonstrate the ability to build and maintain strong teamwork relationships
• Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion.
